Caulk Singles Review
We recently removed this window and frame from our bedroom to make way for a new closet. Rather than take it to the salvage yard I decided to paint it and hang it on the wall. It was never a window to the outside, so it was in pretty bad shape, with cracks and missing pieces of glazing.
I decided to use caulk to fill in the cracks and also to experiment with it as a glazing replacement. I wouldn't do this if it was for a real window. The packaging for the caulk singles is nice and not intimidating. I've never used caulk before and the usual huge caulk gun and caulk seems like it would have been annoying to have to buy all that for this one little job. I'm not sure how much the caulk singles are going to cost, I hope they are cheap.
I keep wanting to call them Craft Caulk Singles. Alas, Craft does not make these nor can you feed them to your tot in a trice.
The caulk singles packaging was easy to use and came with clear instructions. After I used the caulk I primered my surfaces and then painted. After the last coat of paint dried I noticed that several places where I used the caulk for its traditional usage didn't work very well and had beaded up or left gaps or sunk in a bit. The places where I used the caulk as a replacement for window glazing came out pretty well. Not perfect and straight and even, mind you, but still it filled in the huge gaps well.
Here is the window after caulking, primering and painting:
I removed all the tape and waited patiently for Vim to get home so that he could install the cute knobs I got at Anthropologie and then hang it up on the wall at the bottom of the stairs.

And, the final project on the wall!
Since these were so easy to use with little fuss or clean up, I would buy these caulk singles if I had another small job to do.
